About Us
Founded in 2010, the Rich River Athletics Club (RRAC) is a non profit organization guided by an all volunteer board. Based in Santa Cruz County, our goal is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for people of all ages.
WHAT WE DO
Throughout each school year, we host recreational fun runs and competitive cross country races and track meets for elementary and middle school student athletes with schools from Cochise, Pima and Santa Cruz counties participating. We also field a competitive six-week winter track program for kids ages 9-18 with competitions in Phoenix and Flagstaff. Lastly, we provide a very affordable one week summer camp for 3rd-5th graders every June.
Our competitions aim to nurture an enjoyment of running, competing and being active as well as instill a sense of confidence within our athletes. Our summer and winter camps promote an enjoyment of running and living an active lifestyle while also teaching about running fundamentals and teamwork. Participants also learn how to incorporate good nutrition and healthy habits into their daily routine.
We help our more competitive racers achieve their goals by sponsoring them to compete in local, regional and national level competitions. So far we have sponsored people in the PF Changs Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon, Nut Run, Portland Track Festival (high school competition), and Nike Cross Country Regionals (high school competition). To view our athletes accomplishments view the members in action page.
Believing in the importance of being a true student-athlete, each year we award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from any of the Santa Cruz Valley high schools (Sahuarita, Rio Rico, Nogales and Patagonia) who has role modeled healthy and active living during their high school career.
